JANET KEMP LADIES FASHION
Janet Kemp, the owner of ”Janet Kemp Ladies Fashion Store“ located at
117 Dunlop St East, has been a long-time, loyal supporter of The May
Court Club of Barrie. At one point, Janet owned and operated two ladies
clothing stores both called “The Clothes Garden” (one in Parry Sound
which has since closed and the one in Barrie that is now know as Janet
Kemp Ladies Fashion). Janet has a lot of experience in retail as she
travelled the road as a wholesale clothing rep. before opening her
Janet’s store features clothing that caters to women 40 and up who are
“young at heart” and fashion forward dressers. Her clients appreciate
the Made in Canada labels and the fine workmanship and fit of the
stylish clothing she offers. Janet does all the buying and stocks brands
like French Dressing, Zoe and Frank Lyman. Designers today emphasize
less structured and lighter fabrics which are appreciated by women
especially in mid-life.
Instead of one huge shipment of clothing styles each season, Janet
receives fresh stock every month so drop in often to see what’s new!
Janet keeps her clients informed as to new arrivals and the latest
promotions by colourful E-mails to her customers.
Janet’s store sells many tickets for Homes for the Holidays and she
sends flyers to her customer base to encourage more sales. We all look
forward to Janet Kemp’s fashion show at the Tea Room for Homes for
the Holidays. Janet acknowledges that May Court supports such a broad
range of people and age groups in the Barrie area from Nutrition in
schools and the Early Years Program to the elderly shut-ins and by
supporting our Club and its events, she helps us change lives for the
Janet also has a soft spot in her heart for four legged lost souls too. Her
charity is “Feline Fix” and this worthwhile program live traps feral cats
to spay/neuter, feed and shelter them. This gets to the heart of the over
population of cats in the community while helping homeless cats who
need our care.
Yes, Janet is a very busy woman who not only operates a successful
women’s clothing store, but who also gives back to her community in a
variety of ways. Janet confided that at some point she wants to become
a May Court member, and the May Court Club of Barrie can’t wait for another dedicated woman to join our enthusiastic group.
